Former Connecticut State Democratic Party Chairman John Droney

Former Connecticut state Democratic Party Chairman John Droney is a major supporter of Senator Joe Lieberman's re-election campaign, but he seems to be go losing his mind, using rhetoric that is bringing discrace to his reputation and the Lieberman campaign. From Slate:

"You have a senator being punished by left-wing bloggers and activists who seek to kill him and bring his head to Washington on a pike to show all those centrists and moderates throughout the country who would wander from the liberal dogmatic line,"
The Courant:
"I think to be terrorized through the summer by an extremely small group of the Democratic Party, much less the voting population, is total insanity for a person who is a three-term senator,"
The Journal Inquirer:
I think it's incumbent on the leaders of the party to tell these people to go home, that they've got no business using Connecticut as a nuclear blog testing ground."
The press is now editorializing against these outrageous remarks:
But first runner-up in the Spiro T. Agnew Foot-in-Mouth, Mind-in-Space Award this week is John F. Droney Jr., a former Connecticut Democratic chairman.

Droney said Sen. Joe Lieberman should bolt the Democratic Party and run as an independent.

"I think to be terrorized through the summer by an extremely small group of the Democratic Party, much less the voting population, is total insanity for a person who is a three-term senator," Droney said.

Terrorized?

It's called an election, dude.

We know that long-time incumbents don't expect such disturbances of the peace. And it may feel like terror, just as it is terrifying to a nobleman when the serfs ask for their wages. But truly, having to debate a primary opponent is not like being blown up or beheaded.
Just because they are desperate doesn't make it right.
