Apparently, 5,000 is an astronomical number for a politician's friends list. Although it doesn't approach the numbers logged by Barack Obama (753,347) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (143,827), it's still almost double the registrations of Sens. Dianne Feinstein (2,791) and Barbara Boxer (2,141).
And who was Gavin's 5,000th friend? None other than Chelsea Clinton.

Gavin Newsom has 31,291 supporters on his page. As far as I can tell, that's the second-most supporters for any American politician that hasn't run for president or vice-president. (#1 is Bobby Jindal.)
Check that. Arnold Schwarzenegger is at 68,274 supporters. But hey, he's Arnold. Some of those are movie fans.
